"We are a virtual warehouse, so we take care of all the backend stuff for you," said David Smith, IT and Shipping Manager at MegaDropshippers.com in Santee, CA. "To get started, you do not need employees, a space or anything like that. You just need a website and the personal initiative to market yourself, so people find out what you have to sell." Participating dropshippers send Smith and his team an email or place a call to put their orders through. Over half of them are eBayers, while the rest are various types of mom and pop outfits. Meanwhile, there is no doubt that all are attracted to starting their own business for less than a $5 bill.
At the same time, one of the keys to that incredible conversion rate lies in the company's high end customer care. As an example, they offer a live help service that receives communications 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If an agent is unavailable when the customer pushes the help button, they will be contacted within a few hours. In addition, Smith said that the six year old company has been growing, "significantly year over year," in terms of web based partners.
He partially attributes the upward climb to the upgrades the company has made to www.megadropshippers.com. "We have really improved navigation and made it easier to search for our products," he explained. "Also, our online customer service is something we have focused on, to make it even better than it was before. Additionally, we are adding electronics items and leisure sports products. In terms of the latter, you are going to see scooters, water sports equipment, scuba diving equipment, racquetball stuff, poker products, badminton, pool tables, you name it."
Recently, one of the fastest moving products at www.megadropshippers.com has been the Neosat iPRO 2000 PVR/DVR player ($199), which is fully compatible with Tivo and Replay TV units. Another is the Coolsat 7000 micro PVR ($299). PVRs, which stand for personal video recorders, are time-shifting television programming devices that are growing by leaps and bounds, in terms of awareness in the consumer marketplace.
"Those are our hottest items," Smith explained. "People have been doing very, very well with them. But as I stated earlier, we plan on expanding our product lines because we do not want to be pigeonholed as just a PVRs company."
