Norton Show Nov. 15th

Nov 1, 2008

The Norton Shows' largest event of the year will take place November 15-17 at the Sevierville Events Center in Sevierville, TN. There are 800 booths featuring ladies', men's and children's apparel; fine jewelry, fashion accessories, all gift categories and gourmet food.

"Last year we had more than 25,000 buyers from 26 states, Canada and the islands," reports Nikke Norton Johnston, who heads The Norton Shows, along with her parents, Linda and Tom Norton. Norton Johnston expects the same success at this year's November event.

The November show will repeat the Camp Norton theme that made its debut at The Norton Shows this September. All the principals and many participants dress up in special camouflage outfits and encourage everyone to participate in charitable contributions to Safe Space, a home for battered and abused women and children.

Jean Shuford and Pam Childers, who head, Just Bag It, an apparel supplier based in Titusville, FL and a long time Norton Shows exhibitor, have designed a special Camp Norton T-shirt. It sells for $10, and half of the proceeds are donated to Safe Space.

The shirt features depictions of the three Nortons in their camouflage gear under a Camp Norton flag. It says, "The Norton Shows are looking for a few good women and men. Join our ranks." Norton Johnston says the sales resulted in a $1,000 donation following the September show. Since the November show is larger, the donation should be substantial.

Attendance at The Norton Shows is free to qualified retailers. They can pre register at the company's website by submitting their business license and/or retail tax certificate and, "walk right in," Norton Johnston says. Several area hotels offer special rates during the event.

Among them is the new Wilderness Hotel, which opened this July and is connected to the events center. Its own amenities include a restaurant, water slide and two golf courses.

The Norton Shows operate four times a year and have been in operation for 21 years. The 2009 dates are: March 7-9, June 6-8, September 12-14, and November 14-16, 2009.
