Against a background of providing exclusive, fashionable apparel in plus sizes, Brad Capo founded Plus Size Wholesale nearly four years ago. "Our objective is to be on the cutting edge of fashion trends, and design the same kind of apparel that is found in regular sizes in mainstream department stores," Capo says. The company carries a large selection of tops, dresses, skirts and pants in sizes 1X through 6X. "They include casual, sporty and business styles."

While the target market for these designs is women between the ages of 18 and 45, Capo says they are also finding favor among older women who also want more fashionable clothing. The company's designers take their cue from regular, ready to wear, while also taking into account styles that flatter the full figured woman. "By adding plus sizes, many retailers can help themselves to plus business," says Capo. "This is especially true for retailers located in areas not served by the larger plus size chain stores. Women in these areas are not being served," he adds.

New designs are added every two to three weeks, and all are shown on the company's wholesale only website. "We don't print a catalog because our inventory changes so often," Capo explains. Retailers can order from the website, and even if they don't place an immediate order, are offered a 10 percent discount on their first order. At the same time, they can sign up to receive emails describing new arrivals. The company's staff is also available to guide buyers to a selection that meets specific demographic and market needs.

The minimum order is $300, and can include a mix of any items. However, some items are offered in a bundle that can include a range of five to eight units of the same design. The top wholesale price at the upper end of the inventory is $45, and has a suggested retail price of $90. At the other end of the spectrum are tops that wholesale for $12, with a suggested retail of $24.
