Adams Creates RealComfort Barstool

Oct 1, 2012

For more than 30 years, Adams Manufacturing Corp. has dedicated itself to creating safe, easy-to-use, affordable products, from high quality suction cups and holiday accessories to stackable folding resin furniture. Adams' most recent resin furniture introduction is the RealComfort Barstool, the prototype was shared at the National Hardware Show in May. Adams Manufacturing CEO Bill Adams, who plays a major role in the company's product creation, was instrumental in the research and development of the barstool. "Bill's a bit of a mad scientist and he's always looking for the best way to do things," remarks Daniel Stainer, director of marketing. Adams consulted with doctors and other professionals to come up with a seat design that takes the contours of the body into consideration. The result is a seat that conforms to the body and is much more comfortable than a traditional hard barstool seat. "We had buyers who tried the seat at the show tell us the design is amazingly comfortable," adds Stainer. "So much so that we have a patent pending."

RealComfort Barstools have a minimalist design, are stackable and easy to clean. The stool, which holds up to 325 pounds, is ASTM rated for both commercial and residential use. "The commercial market will appreciate it," Stainer notes, "especially when coupled with our café inspired bistro table. It's great in the home, on patios and decks, and for game rooms." The barstool typically ships by standard carriers, so it will work for online wholesale and retail sales, Stainer points out. The product retails for $20.99 and wholesale price varies based on volume, but is substantially less than MSRP, according to Stainer. Last year, Adams Manfacturing, the largest producer of resin products in the world, introduced the RealComfort Adirondack chair, which has ergonomic lumbar support and a more flexible, wider seat and armrests than traditional Adirondack chairs. "It was the first major change to the Adirondack design since the Civil War," Stainer reports. "That chair is selling very well. It's the number-one selling resin chair in the U.S."

Not only is Adams Manufacturing proud of its innovative product designs, the company celebrates America. "We are 100 percent made in the U.S., from materials to manufacturing," Stainer stresses. "We care about what the customer wants and we want to produce the best products we can. Not only are we creating products in America, we're coming up with really good ideas and delivering the value customers want and the margins buyers expect."
