Water crystalsScience44’s Water Polymer Crystal line is odorless, water absorbing polymer beads (polyacrylamide), used for hydrating plants, fresh cut flowers, air fresheners, and room decor. These Water Crystals are non-toxic and mildew resistant, which absorb and release liquids over and over again. The user can add liquid plant food or fertilizer to the beads for optimum plant care. Science44’s line of crystals currently comes in various colors, including red, orange, clear, yellow, blue, purple, black, teal, citrine, pink and green. Science44 sells a 3 mm bead that expands to about 20 to 30 mm. For those not up on the metric system, the bead expands from about 1/16th of an inch to 3/4 of an inch.

Science44 offers beads in 5 gram packages that sell on its website for a retail of $3 per pack, available in small 2×2 Zip Lock bags, or in plastic cylinder tubes (call for wholesale prices), and in bulk by the pound, which retailers can then repackage. The material sells wholesale at $15 a pound, and the price drops to $10 a pound for large volume buyers. The profit margins are phenomenal. If purchased in a one pound package, and sold in five gram packs at around $3 each, that $15 returns $230 to $240.

Because Science44 wants to make it as easy as possible for customers to purchase the product, it has a no minimum policy. The firm offers starter kits that range from a simple product assortment pack to a complete event kit, which includes everything necessary to start a Science44 operation, including a portable kiosk. Prices for starter kits begin at $300.
