ShopNBC & Mobile eCommerce

Mar 1, 2010

A giant of electronic retailing, ShopNBC has officially launched its new mobile ecommerce capabilities, as well as the second version of its iPhone application. The new capabilities will allow customers to both browse and place purchase orders from cell phones and other mobile devices. "We are excited about advancing the cause of our mobile ecommerce strategy for the benefit of the consumer," said Carol Steinberg, SVP of eCommerce and Marketing for ShopNBC. "With fast, easy access to our entire product selection, coupled with the ability to accept merchandise orders directly from the mobile devices, ShopNBC has further enhanced its shopping experience. Now, in step with an on-the-go lifestyle, customers have the ease of knowing that ShopNBC's unique items and top values are always at their fingertips."

Developed together with Usablenet, a mobile web platform used by leading brands, the ShopNBC mobile platform can be accessed from smart phones and devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Palm Pre and Droid. More than 10,000 products are offered, which can be searched by keyword or item number. Customers can also check daily specials, and even check order and shipping status.

In April of last year, ShopNBC gained the distinction of being the first TV shopping retailer with its very own application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Now, version two of the iPhone application is being made available as a free download from iTunes. Offering a more user-friendly, comprehensive interface, the new version builds on the success of the original. In addition to the ability to order directly, the application boasts other key features of the ShopNBC.com website. Operating with a premium lifestyle brand, ShopNBC is a multichannel electronic retailer. It specializes in the categories of electronics, home, fashion, beauty, watches and jewelry, and serves an estimated one million customers.
