BabyEarth Unveils Demo On Demand

BabyEarth, the eco friendly baby goods retailer based in Austin, TX, has launched BabyEarthLIVE, which utilizes webcam technology to give online shoppers an in-store experience. The interactive service is free.

It is designed to give website shoppers, who may be thousands of miles from a store, the same personal attention they would get in a store, along with the convenience of shopping online. "Why sacrifice one for the other?," asked James Bendle, president and CEO. "When parents shop for baby gear like strollers and car seats, they often want to feel the product, handle the product, test it out and understand exactly how it works. For some customers, shopping for baby is a hands on experience."

"If they can't be in our store to demo the products in person, we'll bring the products to them," he adds. BabyEarth representatives located in the flagship store in Texas are outfitted with webcams and laptops, so they can give online shoppers live demonstrations of such baby gear as strollers, car seats, high chairs, diaper bags and infant carriers.

The demo on demand is delivered to the online customer live, via streaming video, allowing for real time conversations and a truly personalized shopping experience. Here's how it works:
1) Shoppers sign in by logging in or signing up at www.babyearth.com/live.
2) They fill out a request form, indicating the baby gear they want to see.
3) After the request is submitted, the information is placed into the queue and a BabyEarth representative calls the shopper back, prepared to do a live demonstration of the product listed in the request. Whether a shopper wants to compare and contrast multiple strollers or get a bird's eye view of the latch on a car seat, the demo on demand shopping experience is tailored to their particular needs.

"One of the biggest benefits of shopping at BabyEarth is our friendly, helpful and knowledgeable sales team," said Bendle. "We've always wanted to share that personal touch with our online shoppers, and BabyEarthLIVE lets us do that. Now shoppers can be thousands of miles away from our Round Rock store and still get the personal attention they deserve. It's a win-win situation."

A perk of the demo on demand is that shoppers can go "off road" with the BabyEarth representative if they need to leave the store and walk into the 15,000 square foot warehouse to find a specific item. Instead of scrolling through available options online or calling to check on inventory, BabyEarthLIVE customers can make their selection instantly, just as if they had picked an item right off the shelf, even if that item is in the warehouse.
