Seven is a lucky number at FLOMO, a manufacturer and distributor owned by Nygala Corp., with seven of its own factories in operation around the country. Started as a factory-based supplier in 1956, the company won seven national awards for excellence in 2011 and continues to uphold high quality standards. Twenty years ago, FLOMO expanded its product line to encompass gift, party, fundraising and seasonal products. Today, it has more than 10,000 items available for distribution internationally, servicing both small retailers and large businesses.
FLOMO takes a creative approach to product design with its glowing roses and decorative mugs, the handles of which are shaped like hearts. Each year, the company develops new gifts and accessories to make the upcoming Valentine's Day more special than the one before. New for this year, FLOMO is carrying a darts love game, party wares, new gift bag designs and new wrapping accessories. "We have developed decorations and gifts centered around themes," mentions Candice Pepe, FLOMO marketing specialist. "Our latest among these are Red Hot Kissy Lips and cute ladybugs. Themes make it easier for consumers to purchase products as a set, because the patterns flow throughout all related items." The company offers a range of price points to cater to all retailers, from party stores to large chains.
FLOMO is a business that truly has heart, especially when it comes to Valentine's Day. After one customer purchased a Valentine's Day product from them, the company received a thank you note expressing the customer's gratitude for the role FLOMO paid in helping that customer give a loved one a gift at an affordable price. "The customer wrote to us and said that we 'saved their Valentine's Day,'" Pepe reveals. "We shared this letter with our entire office team, because statements like this make us feel good about what we do. We are dedicated to creating products that we know people will enjoy."
FLOMO prides itself on quality and accessibility, and its website design attests to that. A playful periwinkle theme sets off the company's colorful products and creates an inviting web environment for buyers. The Valentine's Day merchandise, in particular, is featured on a whimsical page with a thoughtful layout. This year, FLOMO launched a new online interface in the interest of becoming more user friendly, as well as more transparent. Its goal is to give its customers a sense of familiarity with the company, its standards and its capabilities. The site contains practical descriptions of its services, which include planograms, merchandise consultations and private label work, in addition to its online merchandise catalogues. The catalogues received a facelift recently, and the photos are now bigger and brighter than ever. Updates are needed almost constantly, and the FLOMO social media pages receive a great deal of attention for exactly that purpose. "We love socializing, connecting with customers and giving our tips for seasonal décor retailing," Pepe says. The team uploads new products as they arrive. What FLOMO has done is create a portal that is about more than shopping. Believing that doing good business is not always about buying and selling, FLOMO pursues growth by building strong and lasting relationships with customers.
In line with its core values, the FLOMO team has done a great deal of work with the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, having a hand in the 100th anniversary event last June. The company has supported local Girl Scout events for years, and has gone so far as to create proprietary leadership programs for them. "We feel a special connection with their organization because our CEO, Wendy Shen, was a Girl Scout herself when she was a little girl in Taiwan," says Pepe. "She is now on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. When we decided we wanted to reach out more to the community and in our humanitarian efforts, the Girl Scouts organization became an obvious choice. This year we were proud sponsors of the Girl Scout Councils of New Jersey's Anniversary, and we feel honored to celebrate this monumental achievement with them. We look forward to doing much more with them in the future."
