Great L&H Trading, a discount sunglass and fashion eyewear manufacturer and wholesaler, began its business in China, but quickly expanded to the United States. Linda Li shares her insider's expertise on stylish sunglasses. "We specialize in plastic and metal sunglasses. Metal and sport sunglasses are the ones that sell best for us," she says. "We have been in this business more than ten years."
The company invests a lot of resources to reach new customers at tradeshows. "We are planning to expand our company and make it bigger," notes Li. "We will be at the Miami Asia-America Tradeshow in September, at booth numbers 1014 and 1016." The company also attends the ASD show and the Offprice show. Since Great L&H is both a manufacturer and wholesaler, the company is proud to have developed its own three product lines. "We carry many products like metal and plastic frames, polarized, kids sunglasses and reading glasses. Our three brands are SS Eyewear, Coolook Sports, and the Christelle Collection, featuring sunglasses, displays, and accessories. We hope to expand in the future," Li says. The SS Eyewear brand is a unisex wire frame line with many new models. The Coolook sunglasses feature athletic and trendy designs, and include some of the company's best selling products. The Christelle Collection is a luxury house brand. The company boasts a total of more than 1,000 different styles offered at discount prices.
Firmly established on both sides of the Pacific, Great L&H has a strong level of control over the design, manufacturing, and distribution of its sunglasses. The company can innovate at a fast pace and squeeze extra costs out of the supply chain, passing the savings on to customers. The wholesaler makes it easy for vendors to buy at wholesale prices. "We sell by the dozen per style, not by the piece," says Li. "The minimum order must be five dozen." In addition, the new customers are given a break. "Special deals include a five to 20 percent discount," Li adds. Great L&H also emphasizes quality. According to the website, their sunglasses feature clear, distortion-free vision, 100 percent UV protection, polarization that minimizes bounce-back glare and reduces eyestrain, spring-hinged temple grips, and superior craftsmanship, especially in frames and colors.
Specializing In Ecommerce
Business professionals buying in quantity spend a lot of money at the Great L&H Trading website. About half of all sales come from online shoppers, and that number has grown substantially in recent months. In order to make sure web shoppers enjoy the same high level of service that other buyers do, the company puts a lot of work into the site, which has been live and evolving since 2002. "We are always updating our site and expanding our online assortments to better meet customers' needs," notes Li. "Our job is to provide the best service to every single customer."
According to Li, the website's strong suit is product photos. "I am most proud of our product photography," she explains, "When photos come out well, customers can see the products clearly, helping with their decision." The company puts those photos to use, distributing them not only on the Web, but through email as well. Frequent updates are also key. "By keeping our website updated all the time with new products, the customer is alerted whenever we get new styles," Li says. "We want the customer to feel comfortable using the site. We make sure to take older items off when they are out of stock. A customer can also enter the style number, and it will jump to the picture of the product." The site highlights the newest offers with a small graphic, and with a "What's New" section.
Demand is growing, and more business-to-business shoppers are looking to stock items based on Internet availability. "Right now, so many people are going online to source products," Li notes. "Almost everybody likes to buy merchandise online, and they are spending time there to find what they want."
