CloseoutCentral.com Adds Google Search

Oct 1, 2007

CloseoutCentral.com, the web's leading online b2b closeout merchandise exchange, has added a new search feature on its website. The new Google Custom Search box, located at the top right of all of CloseoutCentral.com's directory pages, adds tremendous depth to the search power of CloseoutCentral.com.

The idea behind Google Custom Search is that it combines the industry expertise of a source like CloseoutCentral.com with the world class power of Google search. CloseoutCentral.com has been serving the wholesale and closeout industry on the web since 1996. They hand pick only the most qualified, reputable closeout brokers and liquidators to be included in their directory. CloseoutCentral's Google Custom Search does a regular Google keyword search, but it searches only those websites selected by CloseoutCentral.com.

Lisa Rioni, CTO of CloseoutCentral.com's parent company, Sumner Communications, explains how the custom search box will give visitors the best of both worlds. "Before we installed the Google Custom Search box, buyers who were coming to our site could only search on the lots our vendors had posted here. Now with our Google Custom Search, we have effectively done the job of sifting through the millions of unqualified or irrelevant pages normally returned by Google, and return only matches from the cream of the crop in the liquidation and closeout merchandise industry."

Both the Google Custom Search and the traditional CloseoutCentral.com search are valuable and meant to supplement one another. The CloseoutCentral.com search always returns product information. Qualified closeout brokers and liquidators post their most current lots on CloseoutCentral.com, where they are sorted into logical industry categories. Buyers can then easily search for lots by product category and see complete product details. The Google Custom Search simply looks for a keyword match anywhere on the vendor's website and returns regular Google style results.

Rioni expects CloseoutCentral.com's Google Custom Search box to increase the site's traffic, as visitors begin to make use of its enhanced utility, and continue to return. "We have seen some large jumps in traffic over the last year, and this is only going to help bring in more qualified retailers. From July 2006, we are up almost 200% in monthly visits, increasing to 327,426 from 111,811, as well as user clickthrough to vendors, which has climbed to 425,872 this month, from 252,381 over 2006. I am confident this new feature will prove mutually beneficial to our vendors and the retailers who search our site."
